Helen as my Mom

Authors Note: I am writing this creative piece to show how Helen would work in modern life as my mom and it might not work out as well but at the same time it might work out just fine for everyone.

What if Helen of Greek mythology was my mom, I think she would be getting kidnapped all the time and all the police would be trying to find her because they wanted to be her hero. Then if I had a dad people would be trying to killing him so they could have Helen.

Having Helen as my mom wouldn’t be the best mom because she wouldn’t be home to much and I would never be able to see her and I would usually get kidnapped a lot to be saved by a guy who will show off to Helen. There would also be other problems with that to because all the boy teachers would be very nice to me and would like to have conferences at their houses with my mom and all the girl teachers wouldn’t like me because my mom is stealing all the guys. 

Life would be difficult for me and my mom Helen because she wouldn’t be able to get a job and we would not have a place to live.  She wouldn’t be able to get a job because it would be too difficult to do and she would be under a lot of stress from the bosses maybe trying to hit on her.  Life also could be easy sometimes because I could get all the guys to be my friends and all the ladies would be all over me because I am so popular.

Although there is all the bad things that could come from that there is also so good things and bad things may out way the good things, the good things may feel better inside and some on the outside to. Helen may be having a good time to along with me but there is also bad things that can come from that like I said and for her to the bad things probably out weigh the good things

Odysseus/Achilles/Iron Man

Odysseus was in Greek mythology, and Paris started a whole war on the Spartans queen that lasted for 10 years and troy ended up winning the war because of the Trojan horse. He came up with idea of the Trojan horse and they won the war because of him and he went on a lot of other brave missions that I will not get into. Achilles was a great part in the war he fought the hardest and would do anything for his country. There is a person at these time that is a ficanal character and he is similar to both of them.

There is another person that is similar to Odysseus and he is in a lot of books and he gets very iconic on by very many little boys around the world and that is like that in Greek mythology with Odysseus .Iron man is like Odysseus because they both fight for their country and came up with a great idea to win wars. Although Iron man is mostly like Odysseus he does have a weak spot like Achilles and they both are very good strong fighters for their country.

Through My Eyes

In the short story “A Well Lighted Place” the young waiter is being exceedingly cruel to the old man who is deaf. The old man may be able to speak but he doesn't know what the other man is saying. The old man is very alone has nobody to really look after him except for his niece and he has almost committed suicide but his niece caught him in the act. The man likes the “Well Lighted Place”, because it is very well lighted and peaceful were the old man likes to be.

In the book “A Well Lighted Place” is mainly from 3^rd person point of view what happened if we were to talk about it from the old man’s point of view and talk about the two waiters in the next paragraph. The old man may be hurt from how the young waiters is treating him and how he gets treated at the place. The old man is not a happy person but he may enjoy life and he could also be very unhappy with the young man and how he treats him.

The two waiters have very different point of views of how they could have handled it. The young waiter is being very cruel to him because he came in very late rate before they were going to close up. The young waiter has a wife home and want to get home to his wife to sleep but he is a very cocky young man along with that.  There is also a middle age waiter who doesn't have much a life but still enjoys everything, he also is very nice to everybody not a cocky guy.  

The point of view of a story can really change how the reader feels about the story.  Just like in this story it completed may have changed how the reader feels about different characters in what way. So the next you are reading a book or story think about the other persons point of view and how it could affect the story. 

Trojan Horse

Yes this could happen nowadays and this could happen because I don’t think work or school places have that much security even some streets don’t. Yes this could happen at a school because we don’t have any defense in schools or even a work place unless we could throw pencils and some people are that smart that they could figure it out.

Yes I have seen a movie that two men are working for the FBI for 10 years and they are at the top of the chain where they know were everything is and they try to shut down America but they don’t, people stop them. It was a very interesting movie and I would suggest that would be a very good movie along with that.

Ribbons

This book is about a young Asian girl named robin and she loves to ballet dance and her grandmother has came over from china and her parents can not afford to keep her ballet dancing. Since ballet dancing is her dream and her grandmother is keeping her from holding that dream she begins to neglect her grandmother and now her and her grandmother have no relationship.

When Robin becomes o learn what her grandmother went through in china she becomes to learn how hard she had it there. Now her and her grandmother are becoming to get closer, the title shows that robin want to get ribbons but her grandmother is holding her back and they learn to overcome it.they would also wrap the feet in ribbons for ballet dancers for there feet to not grow and then the whole body would be messed up.

Guess who

I've been putting my blood, sweat, and tears, for a long time just for our country, while in the meantime I played my tenure with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, through the year 1956. I went through a lot to be recognized for my dedication, but it was all worth the pain because obviously the game of baseball is a lot different since when I played it. I came to the world in 1919, raised by mother in Cairo, Georgia. I had family struggles here and there growing up, but I never would let it get in the way.

I played a great second baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Not to mention, I have a great batting average of 311. I was frowned upon for the game of baseball because I am African-American. Most of the players, even the players on my own team were not very friendly to me. When I started to get good and  when I wasn't playing the media was all over me asking me what I am doing and how I am doing it. I got it by a pitch in the head without a helmet because they wouldn't allow me to use a helmet. I wear the number 42.

The Falling

It was a ordinary day at school until all the teachers start getting pulled out of the classrooms and we get sent into a tornado drill but it was sunny outside. We were all sitting in the bathrooms waiting to see what is going to happen everybody is talking and trying to see what is happening. I go up to three separate teachers and ask and they won’t tell us. That is probably because we will all freak out when we know, so eventually everybody started to calm down and then the power went out. None of the students knew what was happening yet. My parent texted me and said they were going to pick me up from school. Then bam the ground is shaking everybody is screaming then it all stops.

I get up and everybody near me is dead. I was stunned at what happened but at the same time I was so confused. I had no idea what happened! I walk out of the bathroom and everybody on the ground is cold and lifeless. Then I take the weight off my feet and sit down. I pray that it’s not like this everywhere. Then two people come walking out from where they were and I ask them “Is it like this—“yes”. I think about my family. All the people I care about. They could be gone forever.

We all look down and wonder what to do so we walk out of the school. We are breathless. We didn’t know what to do. There were two car sized meteorites in the middle of the parking lot. When they rocketed towards the ground, they ripped out the top of our school and all of the elementary school. All of us tried using our cell phones but they didn’t work. So I came up with a plan. I knew my house was close so we found bicycles and we rode there. To our surprise, our cell phones worked there. So I called my parents and thankfully they answered.

“There’s a meteorite one mile ahead of us. We’re going to get there as soon as we can,” my dad said with hope.

I walk outside and I hear nothing. It is dead silent—not even the birds are chirping. “Since we’re probably the only ones left let’s get to know each other,” I murmured.

“My name is Patrick. I’m in eighth grade” said the blonde.

“My name is Sam. I’m in eighth grade, too—suddenly the ground starts shaking. We all tumble over each other, and everything stops again. Sam, Patrick and I didn’t know what to do so we got up and went inside and got a drink and eat something healthy. We are all sitting on the coach and my parents pull up and my dad grabs his hand radio and we listen.

Bussssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh Buuuuusssssssssssshhhhhhhh it goes on and on the we hear a voice in the background , and it says the whole world is going down we need to fend for ourselv…. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. It goes blank from there , we all look at each other in fear we don’t know what to do, so we come up with another plan. We are going to gather all the food and people we can, the men start digging for a hole in the basement, then cover it will barrels with concrete to cover up the cracks. But we need someone to stay out and put concrete over it. “I will” I say, and everybody looks so confused then I say “Trust me I can do it”. Once everybody’s  back at my house I say a prayer hoping I will stay alive and If I don’t send me to heaven. Everybody’s in there with drills to get out and I put the barrel over it,  but before I could put the concrete over a tornado rips in and swoops me away then the barrel comes right behind me along with the other people in the hole then bam. I flew out of the tornado and fell, gone forever.

Homework

That story relates to military men and women but mainly women, that is kind of like when you are walking around in a grocery store and someone see you in uniform and you act very polite. you may act like it’s the president or a NFL football player.

I have a uncle who severed in a war and he told me that he just wants people to act normal around him. They are just like any other person, and most of them would like to be treated like that or not wear their uniform once and a will so people don’t act like that around them. This mainly happens when there are adults around and they look up to them. 

A Clean Well Lighted Place.

What was different about the two place was that the cafe, I thought would be on like a busy street. The young boy I would have picked someone else because he didn't really seem that cocky boy that fit the description. The other waiter, he I seemed just like that and he was just the right size to be like he was never that cocky or anything.

I thought the old man could have a bit more nicer clothing on to the discretion of him. He they said was a wealthy man , he didn't have the features that you described a wealthy man. But he had the attitude they described him as. The cafes inside was just about how I imagined it, it was a well lighted place with nice features that it said it had.





#1 I like the video version better because it showed the deaf man walking away and the music helped capture the theme of the story.

#2 The other reason why I liked the video version better was because of the lighting of the place and the whole dining room where people could sit and wait for there food.

·         How does the setting (time period and place) affect the realism of this story? Would this type of situation happen in modern America? Why/why not?

Yes it would happen in America these days because I honestly think that no one really cares about their job these days because you get payed by Obama to sit at your house and get your taxes payed and free food so there for I do not think that no one really cares about losing there job anymore these days except for people who actually want to work. 

Authors Note: This is a figurative language piece on the short story Sea Of Death. I want to score an 8.5 on this piece.  

Imagery For Figurative Language

Would you like to be chased by a werewolf through the woods and have to jump in water that is full of rotten bodies. Well in the short story Sea Of Death that’s exactly what happens. A boy has shot a deer and is trying to track it down when he runs into a mysterious creature you wonder what it is. Then bam it hits you he has a werewolf right on him chasing him and he has to jump in a sea of rotting dead people eaten by the werewolf.

In the story Sea Of Death it has superior imagery and figurative language were used in great ways to make the story better. For example the phrase: “like a splash of blocks” ,that is a simile, that shows how he fell into the water and it made the reader feel how the water felt on his body. There could also be other words to describe how the water hit him and how it felt but the narrator chose this sophisticated phrase and it show how the writer has a creative mind in this story.

There is also different phrases that the narrator used other first class figurative language such as “it was like a med-ore falling from the sky”. That is also another high quality simile that shows how the werewolf feel down from the sky and what is felt on the boy. This also helps the reader understand how big the creature was and how hard it falls and it still can hold its body up.  There is also another phrase that is a metaphor: “ heart is going to explode.” This shows how nervous the boy was and he was most likely feeling how the scared he was. This gets the reader exited to see what it is going to be and they keep reading on and it gets more interesting.

In addition to doing that the narrator made the story easy to follow. So the reader can get a better grasp of the story maybe even understand it from the werewolf’s point of view. He also described the events taking place very well and were they are happening that may also help the reader comprehend the story better. He also kept the story exciting so the reader can be more intrigued to read more and have the reader wonder what’s happening next.

This story also relates to the book The Life of Pi because both of the main characters get stuck with a animal and have to find a way to overcome that animal. The both of them after the madness was over, got asked questions and didn’t tell the true story but in The Life of Pi he did tell the true story first then they didn’t believe him so he made another one up. But when the main character in The Sea Of Death didn’t want to tell what actually happened to anybody. Both of the stories involve water and pull the reader in a little later in the story.

In the story The Sea of Death figurative language made the story sound so much better and more sophisticated. The story affects the tone and the mood of the reader. For the quality of the figurative language, instead of being of bored or almost falling asleep during the story the figurative language makes the reader more scared of what is going to happen or happening.  

"I like this fine. I never camped out before; but I had a pet 'possum once, and I was nine last birthday.

 This shows that the boy that has been kidnapped kind of likes the outdoors although he has never been out there but has been opened up to a little of the real world. this also shows that the boy doesn't want to go back home he likes it out there he is having fun but maybe to much fun for a kid who likes being kidnapped. 

New Figurative Language

Point of View (Training Camp)

In the book Training Camp by Jon Gordon, this is told from Martins point of view but his mom might have had a different perspective. That could affect the reader’s point of view of the story or even his mom’s point of view. But the trouble here is that martin has a broken ankle and is playing in the NFL and therefore he can’t make any money. So he cannot help his mom he has never felt so unable to do anything. Nobody really knows how she feels there or how much help she needs, but her son is in real danger with himself and possibly his mom dying in the hospital.  Martin has an ankle injury to be more pacific an ankle sprain. Now he has a huge chance of getting cut from the football team with that injury and he has help with it and it is feeling better. But his mom is helping him believe that he will stay on the team she has encouraged him throughout his life on being better and staying positive.

One way Martin moms could affect the point of view of the reader.  Martin mom helps him through everything in his life has encouraged by his mom. But now she is in the hospital, and she needs to get healthy. But he needs to make money to get her healthy. But how she feels about Martins injury is feeling good that it will get better and that god will make it better. She is not going to stop praying about him that is the thing that is on the top her mind, she just keeps encouraging and encouraging him to work hard and keep him positive.  His mom could also be effected by how he has that injury, for example she might not want her little boy to get hurt. Martin has never got hurt like this before so she might be doubting his playing. She might want him to come and spend more time with her.

The point of view of the mom makes the reader feel  encouraged. The reader feels that way because the mom always has faith in him, the reader might feel the same way as Martin. Also encouraged but he might feel a different way because it’s not his mother it’s a person that your just reading about.  It also shows that the mother cares for martin, the reader may also be touched by the way the mom is dyeing and all she’s done for everybody especially martin.

                The point of view of stories are told from one person point of view, but the reader might have different thoughts from another person point of view.  But that is depending on who’s point of view that is from. People mainly base the point of view on what the characters are like and how they react to certain things.  But when you change the point of view it ,may not seems like she is so sweet or so evil.

Martins mom-

I woke up this morning and still thinking about Martin and why he didn’t play in the second half of the preseason game. I just made my coffee and turning on the TV to see what’s on. Then the phone rings I answer it. It was Martin and he broke the news to me that he had a sprained ankle! I told him to stop worrying about me and I said that God will provide for me and you start worrying about yourself. You need to focus on getting that ankle better and just keep praying to God that your ankle will heal. We said our goodbyes and hung up and ESPN was on and they were talking about him. At that point I didn’t know what to do so I just relaxed put a nice cool towel on my head and went back to sleep.

The History of Restaurants

This is the essay I researched about restaurants.

How restaurants got invented, the answer might shock you. They were made up in the 18 century by France. The basic info that we know that it was made in the 18 century by France. But we do have theories that they may have been made up by these three men from France, Boulanger, Mathurin Roze, or  Beauvilliers. They eventually got them to America but they finally did and America caught on in the final years of the 18 century, the French encouraged everybody to get restaurants and then soon, everyone did. The French did that because they knew they needed chiefs and America did end up needing the chiefs and they did get a very reasonable amount of money.

How did Boulanger, Mathurin Roze, or  Beauvilliers get them into such a big thing,  well  I will tell you why. Like in the first paragraph it mentioned that France played a trick on America and made some money from them buying chiefs. But once they got them into America they skyrocketed, they were a huge hit. They didn’t even the French’s help anymore they were high erring more and more chiefs to cook for them.  By 1925 New York City had already inhabited over 160,000 new people from restaurants and not only in that city other big cities had great increases to their population.

The biggest restaurants got there somehow, but how, I will tell you how. From the year of 2013 it was from Denmark the Noma its main food on tray is the fat duck which that food has won two years for favorite food to cook by a chief in 2010 and 2007, but it was on a chart based from 2005. This restaurant was originally started in a warehouse in 2004, now would you want to eat there. But they built it up into one of the best restaurants ever, it has won three years in a row. Now you are probably wondering why the Noma is called Noma well they came up with the name from Nordisk which means Nordic and Mad which means food.

How is fast food like restaurants, but I will show you how they are not? Well to start off fast-food is fast and its more likely to be junk food. There is drive through and other sort of stuff just like that. But in a restaurant you will most likely be spending time at a table talking to the person your with and it will be very nice food that you will order off a menu. The different kinds of restaurants will vary from sport restaurant to flowers and lollypops. Fast-food is like a dog with a treat, it doesn’t want to much time to spend on it and sometimes might not be to healthy anyway.

The Sea of Death

I am walking in the woods to my deer stand and I see fresh blood but not normal blood. It seems more black and rotten, I take the gun of the my back and take a good look around make sure there is nothing watching me. There is too many trees to see around, it's getting close to dawn and still no sign of an animal or a possible human. I have been looking for 15 minutes and the blood is just pure black and the sky is, too, but then it just stops. “Could it really be?” I say to myself and then…

Drip, drop blood on my head I am too scared to look up but it is natural instinct. It is a giant daunting werewolf sitting straight above. I have never seen such a creepy looking animal in my life not even in the movies. I try not to move it jumps down from the colossal branch in front of me and crash it lands right in front of me it was like a med-ore falling from the sky and I am so terrified I drop the gun and it shoots pow but it doesn't matter I still run I felt like I was running like a cheetah.  Then I come up on a giant cliff that felt like 1 million miles deep. I look down and I see these freaky lumps coming out of the water and I figure out what they are they are body’s! Not knowing what to do the werewolf is coming at me the leaves are getting louder. I am so scared that it seemed like a movie. There is only on choice I have it is to jump and I did! It felt like the longest time going down and I hear the werewolf howling and I have my toes pointed down ready for the fall and I fell my toes feeling the stinky air gasping water and…. 

Butterfly Effect

What do you think The Butterfly Effect is, it is probably not what you are thinking. In simple terms the butterfly effect is a simple little change that somebody or something  does now but can result in a large difference later. This mostly happens in predicting weather, in example of that Edward Lorenz . When I first heard of it I was watching the movie end of watch and they were talking in the police car and that topic came up and they really never talked about what it was about. So that topic interested me to learn more about it.

The Butterfly Effect is invented by the American meteorologist Edward N. Lorenz. He lived from 1917-2008, he invented it because he thought it would have a momentous affect which it did. It made a difference for everybody and in some cases some things too. The Butterfly Effect had on TV too and also you would have to watch the weather to tell when people needed to bring your plants in from outside from the frost and cold weather. It could also tell you what you need to wear outside when it gets cold out or sometimes warm out to.

The Butterfly Effect is mainly measured by frequency wave to see what might happen next. Such as the weather they can look what is happening all around us and see what way the wind is blowing so the storm comes in and if around that time of year they can look at if the storm dies down getting closer to you or if it grows bigger in that type of season. Another thing that goes along with that is if you eat a pack of gummy bears for one month and gummy will rote your teeth and when you go to the dentist and you could have a cavity when you have a cavity you have to  get your teeth drilled and that cost more money to do that and when he gets more money he can pay his kids tuition and he goes on and plays in the NFL and goes in the NFL and goes to the hall of fame from there and if he wouldn’t have eat that gummy bear he might have not gone in the hall of fame.

I still wonder why you keep singing to me, it doesn’t matter anymore you need to get on with your life. I have got on with my life, found a new job got a new house. Only if you can get on with your life find something you really like and come clean to the cops. Tell them that you didn’t do anything and you were just trying to run away from the robbers. You didn’t want to get held hostage and possible die. You should just get on with your life, I don’t want me to hold you back. You showed me now support before what happened in the bank and now you expect me after one time and I cant do that. I am no that kind of person just to come and pick up after one time. Please just call your parents and leave me alone. I don't care what you say nothing will change it, you might think that I am only one sided or biased but sorry just leave me alone.


The Man:

I don't care what you are doing I just want you to have a good life why wont you pick me up. I risked my life to save you and you wont even come and pick me up from out here the cops are after me now. But we could start a new life drive off somewhere. We had plans together no you are just ruining them if you did come and pick me up we could have a great life and live free. Or if you want we could the the police what truly happened and stay here and maybe get another job in banking or what ever you want to do. We could have new life plans and do whatever you want to do. Please just come and pick me up, or I can find a cab and have them come and find you but I don't know what to do because I am at a payphone and you wont pick up. Please just me a chance if things don't work we can separate and go our own ways, but I think we where meant for each other. You affected me cause you would not come and atleast pick me up and I saved your life.  

The Woods

I was walking in the woods, very thick trees everywhere you turn. The sun was just rising and over the creek I could hear a gust of wind. When it stopped and the leaves stopped waving. I could see a house right over the creek and the sun was just over it. It’s that one beautiful moment that you get to look. I walk my way to the house and I am on the front door step and can hear the rickety of the stairs, someone is coming down I am thinking, I hear him load a shotgun. I start running he shoots the door off and he sees me, I look at him he is a old man with long white hair I keep running and now he is chasing after me. I hear him shoot again I see a pellet go off the tree next to me. I keep running as fast as I cannot looking anywhere except for straight in front of me. I trip over a branch and fall he come right up to me, puts the shotgun on my head, he said "don't ever come back or I will shoot, and tell all your friends not to come back either no leave". So I did what he said. But they denied me and they set up cameras so the world could see him. He found them and took them he told us if we to were even take a step in the wood he would shoot all of us. He would do his yearly robbing of a grouchy store and get the yearly supply of food and that is just his warning and if you do come in the woods he will shoot everybody in the store. We are all terrified, we just ask ourselves what do we do.  Then over in the corner David says something no one can really hear him he isn’t that smart and doesn’t talk much but we said say it louder. He says “This time why don’t we just call the police”. We start whispering to each other people are blurting out they won’t believe us then other are saying we have to give it a chance. So we find my dad’s phone and we slowly dial 911, it felt like it was years before I finished dialing. We tell him everything that happened and of course he won’t believe us but we are pleading but still nothing and he hangs up.So we sit down again and think then this time no one came up with an idea, we just got headaches the longer we thought. But finally I think of it, why don’t we sneak up behind his house and light it on fire, he will get out and have to move houses. So we are walking in the woods, but there is something different this time but we don’t know what it is. We are behind the house and we got the gasoline and the match, David climbs up a tree and drops gasoline on the top of the house I have the match. I light it, he comes out of the house and I throw it the house starts on fire he shoots and hits Michael we keep running. We look behind us the whole woods is starting on fire. The man isn’t even trying to shoot us anymore he is just running. He is blaring in horror, the fire got him it’s just me and David running we realized what was different the fence he put up around the woods we have to jump it. We are coming closer up to it and we jump at the same time. I make it David got his pants suck on it I turn around and rip his pants. But we just keep running, we can see the road if we make it there we know we are safe. It feels like it is taking years to get there but we did.The police find the two bodies burned down to the bones and they found the house. The police man we talked to said he was sorry for not believing us. Michael parents also came up to us and said that you should have let us know that we were going to take a walk in the woods at least she needed to know that, at the time she was balling her eyes out.  The next day they both had their funerals, there were so many people that the parents didn’t even know but the man’s family was there and they told us that he had been missing for years and his name was Ryan. The forest was replanted and the house was rebuilt for no reason except for remembering of those two brave men it said these two courage’s men were killed in a forest fire in these woods one of the men lived in this house that was burned down and rebuilt in the same fashion.

History of the Steelers

                                The Steelers, one of the greatest in the NFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers have got it together for the last 44 years of Super Bowls. The reason for that is they have had 6 Super Bowl wins and 9 Super Bowl appearances. That is more than any other team, the closest team to them is the 49ers.

Steelers field name is Heinz field but it always hasn’t been that forever they changed the name in the season of 2000 it was changed from Three Rivers Stadium . It was called Three Rivers because its stadium is on the edge of 3 rivers that connect, the Allegany River, the Ohio River, and the Monongahela river. Three Rivers Stadium had 30 seasons played in it, the last regular season game was played on Saturday December 16, 2000 against the Washing ton Redskins, which they won.

Some of the greatest Steelers players that played at that field where Kordell Stewert, Joe Greene, John Stallworth, Andy Russell,  Lynn Swann, and Hines Ward. Some of the Steelers that where elected into the hall of fame, but here are some of the players that did get elected to the Steelers hall of fame, Chuck Noll, Jack Ham, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Butler, Joe Greene, and Rod Woodson.

The Pittsburgh Steelers today have a vast foundation of players and coaches. The Steelers head coach right now is Mike Tomlin and the quarterback is Ben Roethlisberger, and the three people on defense that mainly hold it together are Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, and Ryan Clark. The Steelers cruel Rival is the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers colors are black and yellow and that is one of their team songs. They have always had a talented team and I believe they always will.
